Sensory Bliss: 10 Must-Haves for Your Ultimate Self-Care Day

What is a sensory focused tactile day?

A sensory focused tactile day is all about appreciating the different textures around us and how they affect our mood/help us relax. There are studies which have shown that different textures can have an impact on our emotions. Our tactile focused self-care day is designed to enhance our self-care experience and perhaps our overall well-being. Please note that there are many ways to enjoy texture (visual, taste, and hearing), however this article will primarily focus on tactile textures, how different textures feel, and how they can affect our mood/emotions during a self-care day. To assist you with curating your own tactile self-care day experience, we have created a short list of suggested items to help you get started. Please check out the list below.

1). A soft cotton spa headband

One great way to start your sensory focused tactile day is by prepping your face and hair. What better way to do this than by using a soft cotton headband to help hold your hair back while you prepare for your self care day.

2). The Estate 3-in-1 face cleansing cloths

Our Estate 3-in-1 face cleansing cloths are also a great choice for your tactile focused self-care day as it is great for prepping your face and made of 3 high quality cotton textures. The first is designed to wash and perhaps massage your face, the second is designed to exfoliate your face, and the third is designed to complete your face washing session with a gentle dry using soft plush cotton.

3).  Face serums/lotion/masks

There are many face care products on the market, suited for all your different skin care needs, and which can be easily incorporated into your tactile focused self-care routine. Choose your favorite non-irritating products and incorporate them into your tactile self-care day. For certain skin conditions, your doctor should be consulted first.

4). Dry brushing

Continue your tactile self-care day with dry brushing, a method that has been used to sooth and calm.

5). Sudsy bathtub water, using dissolvable soap flowers

Next, a fun way to experience tactile touch on your self-care day is to feel the light touch of bubbles on your skin. A great way to experience this is to run a bath of water, and fill your tub with dissolvable soap flowers. The flowers will dissolve and add a generous amount of bubbles to your bathwater as you relax and enjoy your spa day.

6). Plush no-fall towel

After you complete your bath, dry off with a plush, absorbent hands free, no-fall towel. *Bonus if you are also able to dry your feet off on a plush bath mat at the same time.

7).  Creamy/Whipped skin moisturizes

There are many creamy/whipped skin moisturizers on the market. Find the best one for you and your skin. Whipped moisturizes are great in that they add a luxurious feel to your tactile self-care day.

8). Silk undergarments/robe

Silk almost always evokes a sense of luxury and relaxation at the end of a spa day. Consider incorporating silk into your tactile focused self-care day.

9). Memory foam mattress/bedding

Towards the conclusion of your tactile focused self care day, settle into a soft relaxing bed preferably made of memory foam and designed to adapt to your body’s own unique comfort needs.

10). Weighted blanket

Finally, cover up in a weight blanket which has a reported ability to add comfort and security; these are two things most of us want at the end of a busy day.

Were you able to use any of the materials above? How did your tactile focused self-care day go? Would you do it again?
