Navigating Parenthood: Overcoming Challenges and Prioritizing You

Being a parent can be the most rewarding and challenging experiences in life. Although there are several rewarding aspects to being a parent, we will focus on a few of the challenging parts of being a busy parent and how we can make small adjustments in our daily lives in order to incorporate self care into our daily routines despite our busy lives. Please check out the tips below.

-Early mornings with kids

Tip #1: Pre-calculate how much time you will need in the morning to get dressed, and add this to the time it will take for your kids to get dressed and finally out the door.* Hint, if it takes you 30 minutes to get ready and it takes your kids 1 hour to get ready, you should plan to wake up 1 hr and 30 minutes before you leave the house so that you are able to fit in your own self-care. (*Note, ideally, if you have older kids you have already spent time teaching them how to wash, pick out their clothes, and dress themselves, so that you can extend your own self-care while they get dressed- if need be).

*Tip #2: Quickly review you and your kid’s calendar of events and weather app-to ensure all kids are dressed appropriately and prepared for the day

*Tip #3: Self-care tip- Get ready. Take a shower, and prep for the day (*Our Estate 3-in-2 cloths are designed to help you easily check the wash, exfoliating, and drying prep part of your face care routine off the list.

*Tip #4: Wake the kids after you have expended your 30 minutes of getting ready, (if old and mature enough) allow them to wash, pick out their clothes (*if not already done the day prior), and dress

*Tip #5: Take the kids to school

-Afternoon with kids

*Tip #6: Keep a cute on the go bag available with any medications you need, lip glosses or easy to transport self care products within it. Never unpack this bag. Store this bag in a space away from children/kids in the house and when you’re ready to go remember to take it with you-so that you are always prepared for a self care emergency or need. *Hint, you can plan to take this bag with you in the morning, afternoon, or at night if needed.

-Night’s with kids

*Tip #7: Set a reasonable bedtime to have few hours to yourself (non-negotiable)

*Hint you can modify/ add to these tips as you see fit for your unique lifestyle. How do these self care tips sound to you? Are you already using any of these tips? If not, do you think you will incorporate any of these tips within your life?
